Meet Julie

After decades in Bible studies, I began wondering why published studies were about either a single Bible book or a topic targeting dysfunction. Seeing God in everyday circumstances or within other cultures as I traveled were never addressed. I was ready for a new adventure in Bible study.

I’m Julie, a believer in Jesus Christ who has and is living a life between places and life phases. Now I am in “early retirement,” and I live in both South Dakota and Texas during each year. I love travel — both local and global — and am a storyteller by nature. Some are written, some reserved for wide-eyed recounting around the kitchen table. My passion is to help believers see a bigger God.

As a Bible study author, I will guide you on an exploration for a common object found in both the Bible and in all cultures, like sandals. Through them, we will discover a God bigger and more involved than we imagined. We will also be traveling through global marketplaces to expand our perspective on other cultures and help us better communicate in our increasingly diverse neighborhoods. I welcome solo travelers or small groups.

Julie’s love of travel stems from growing up as a proud second-generation Army brat, then Army wife. She has lived in various states and four countries, having moved about 40 times. Julie has several communication degrees from Baylor University (BS, MS) and University of Texas (PhD) that relate to her former profession of a speech-language pathologist and later teaching English for several university programs. She holds a MABS from Dallas Theological Seminary.

Currently, she travels abroad about five times a year and when home, she thoroughly enjoys digging into local history. She has been married to a Civil Engineer for 39 years and has two wonderful children who live on the east coast.
